KRAKATUK - MAGIC NUT

Set in 1800s Hamelin, the story focuses on Clara, a bright and curious young girl who dreams of becoming an inventor like her eccentric Godfather Drosselmeier.

Drosselmeier must save the children from the danger he has put them in. To succeed he must find the Magic Nut Krakatuk to open the portal.

Clara must venture into this strange land to rescue her true love, Franz, and the children before they are trapped forever. To succeed, she must use her inventive skills to repair the broken clock portal.
The Mission:
The portal breaks, stranding the children in a magical land that slowly is turning them into Sweeties, and Clara at home with marriage-minded, social climbing mother intent on replacing her lost favorite daughter with the much less loved Clara.
The Complication:
Drosselmeier attempts to rid the Stahlbaum house of its plague of mice. The plan goes awry, and he accidentally transports not only the mice, but also the village children and his nephew Franz, through the magical clock portal into a mysterious magical realm.

The Incident:
The Resolution: Through courage and invention, Clara captures the Mouse Queen and restores the ravaged "Land of Sweets,” but is mortally wounded. The story concludes with her return home, where she discovers the magic was more than just a dream when Franz appears.

Clara must outwit several comedic and dramatic obstacles, including: her mother, and believing her boy friend has a wooden head and breaking the curse to free him. Then she and the restored Franz, must defeat a sugar-charged giant Mouse Queen who has already defeated Drossemeir.
The Conflict:
The Mouse Queen finds Krakatuk, the magic nut. Consumed with revenge and an over-powering hunger for Sweets, the Mouse Queen invades the Land, curses Franz and changes him into a Nutcracker. Drosselmeir barely escapes with the Franz.
